This unique English language reference utilizes word roots in a thorough yet simple approach to teaching vocabulary. Each main entry in the dictionary is followed by the etymology -- what the word parts mean separately and what languages they come from -- the complete definition, and the pronunciation displayed in a phonics-based system. Three-color text is used for selective emphasis of critical information. Main entries in red indicate commonly used words, while keywords in blue, found within the definition, make it easy to remember the definition as well as the word roots of which the entry is composed. A supplemental index of over 500 less commonly used word roots is included.
